WIP3B -Two player, More mini-games

Two Player Mode

This version has an Olga and a Helga. At the start of the game, Olga is on-screen and the Helga is off-screen. You interact with the person who is on-screen. Pushing the 'Swap' button at the top of the screen,  switches the two women between on-screen and off-screen. There is a pink 'name' box in the upper corner of the screen that tells you which woman is on-screen. This allows you to interact with both women during the game. You can even play mini-games with both of them as well. You start playing a mini-game with the on-screen character (Olga). Once you finish the mini-game, you can push the Swap button and Olga and Helga switch places. Now you can play a mini-game with Helga. Repeat

Below is a picture of the mini-game menu and all the 24 sub-menu mini-game choices.

Fair Dice and Fair Card Deck

The following methods are used to ensure a "fair" deck of cards and "fair dice". It guarantee that each card dealt and each dice face will have an equal chance of appearing.

All the Card games are played with one, 52 card deck. When a card is played it is discarded from the deck. When all 52 cards in the deck have been played, the deck is shuffled and the deck has 52 cards again. The deck is NOT shuffled when you switch between mini-games. The deck IS shuffled when you go from Explore mode to any of the mini-games. So, if you are playing a mini-game and you want the deck shuffled, click on the Explore mode radio button and then click any of the mini-game radio buttons. If you are a card counter, this is a handy feature.

The mini-games dice games that use D6, D8, D10 dice work in similar fashion as the 52 card games. Each side of a die is considered a 'card'. When a dice 'face' is played it is discarded from the dice. When all sides of all the dice are played then the dice are 'reset' and 'shuffled'. They are not 'shuffled' when you switch between mini-games but are 'shuffled' when you go from Explore mode to any of the mini-games. There are 10 D6 dice numbered 1-6 for 60 faces. There are 8 D8 dice numbered 1-8 for 64 faces. There are four D10 dice numbered 1-X for 40 faces. Each D10 dice is a different color (red, yellow, cyan and violet). The four colors are used as the four suits in the poker and Yahtzee game.

Similarly, the Roulette Wheel and the 'Rock Paper Scissor Lizard Spock' Wheel are a 38 slot wheel. As each is slot is used, it is removed from the wheel. When all slots are used the wheel is reset. When you go from Explore mode to any mini-game the wheel is reset to all 38 slots.

Strategy or 'Look-ahead' Tables:

Because of the Fair Dice and Fair Card Deck methods that are used in the game it is possible to implement of an optional Strategy or 'Look-ahead' table. The D6 dice, D8 dice, D10 dice, Card, Roullette Wheel and 'Rock Paper Scissor Lizard Spock' Wheel each have there own Look-ahead table. The 'Look-ahead' table lets you look into the deck, dice sides or wheel slots to see which ones haven't been played yet.

So for example, you are playing roulette. You are trying to decide between an odd or even bet. All the un-played odd numbers are on one side of the table and all the un-played even ones are on the right. You can quickly count whether there are more odd numbers or even numbers and bet on the one that has more. This increases your odds of winning the bet. The same is true for red and black bets or Low and High bets and other bets. The use of 'Look-ahead' tables turns a purely random mini-game into a 'Strategy' game.

Roulette with Look-Ahead Table

Just like the Roulette game, the 'Look-ahead' tables turns 'Rock...Spock' game from a random game of chance into a strategy game. There two ways to do this:

  1.  Find the column with the most available slots (assume the Vulcan 'V' column). Go to the top of the column and find out which things attack this column ('P' Paper and 'L' Lizard). Now look across the top of the columns and find out the other two columns that Paper and Lizard attack. Sum up the two Paper columns and the two Lizard columns and choose the one that has the most available slots. This method increases your chances of a win and it works better when there are a lot of available slots.
  2.  Find the column with least available slots (assume the Paper 'P'). Go to the bottom of the column and find out which things this column attacks ('R' Scissors and 'V' Vulcan). Now look across the bottom columns and find out the other two columns that attack Scissor and Rock. Sum up the two Scissors and Rock columns and choose the one that has the least available slots. This method decreases the chance of getting attacked. It works better when there are fewer available slots.

Rock... Spock with Look-Ahead Table

An other example, you are playing Blackjack or 21. You can use the 'Look-ahead' table to see what cards are still in play. This especially useful when you are trying to decide if you should be 'Hit' with another card. You can look at the table and see how many cards are in the deck that will let you stay under '21' and how many cards will be a bust. In the picture below, you have 18. The Look-Ahead table shows that there are two 2s, three 3s and two aces left in the deck for a total of 7 cards that will keep you under 21.  There are 26 cards that will cause a bust.

In the example below, you are playing  Poker Dice (Yahtzee) with the four color D10 dice. Your dice were a red  4, a violet 5 and a violet 8. You threw out the red 4 in hopes of getting a flush (violet 3, 5 , 6 or X). You succeeded in getting a flush. You may also have gotten a pair of 5s (yellow or cyan) or a pair of eights (red 8).

Below is an example of using the D8 Look-Ahead Table while  playing D8 Hi-Low. There are 23 dice faces that are below 5.  There are 17 dice faces above 5 and 6 dice faces equal to 5.
